EFNMS Renews its Organization and Implements a New Operating Strategy
EFNMS (European Federation of Maintenance Societies) held its annual meeting in Copenhagen on 26.10.2013. The recession in Europe has had an impact also on the EFNMS activities, all national associations have not had the opportunity to participate in international cooperation as in previous years and at the same time the recession has weakened the EFNMS financial resources.
The meeting in Copenhagen decided, in accordance with the Board's proposal, to renew the association’s strategy and at the same time to reduce the operational costs by reducing the number of members in the Board of Directors from seven to four. Also the traditional Committee work will be renewed and at the same time it was decided to aim for more cooperation with EU-funded projects.
Changes in the EFNMS Organization
Herman Baets from Belgium was nominated as the new chairman of the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS). He follows Alexander Stuber (Swiss), who has led EFNMS for the past three years.
The new organization follows the strategy to develop the cooperation with EU, to activate the work of the Committees and to streamline the work of the Board of Direc tors. Also a part-time position of Executive Director will be established.

EFNMS Committee Work Diversifies
The EFNMS activities are mainly focused in the work of the Committees. Maintenance ex perts from different member countries have formed Committees under the EFNMS flag to produce new working processes, methods and standards. During the recent years, the most active Committees have been: Asset Management, Assessment, Maintenance, Education & Certification and Safety, Health & Environment.
All Maintenance Associations can send experts to join to work in these Committees, the results will be available to all Committee members as well as all EFNMS’s member societies. The results are also intended be used in the M4C project. EU has a clear objective to make maintenance skills an important competitive tool for Europe and EFNMS is determined to play an important role to achieve this goal.
