SPX FLOW and Siemens Collaborate on Digital Twin and AI Product Design
SPX FLOW and Siemens collaborate on digital twin and AI product design
Digital twin technology creates a precise virtual model of an autonomous mixing tank, enabling users to design, test, and optimize fluid systems before physical implementation.
SPX FLOW, a global provider of fluid technology solutions, has partnered with Siemens to showcase digital twin technology at Manufacturing x Digital (MxD) Centre in Chicago.
SPX FLOW and Siemens will demonstrate how digital dual technology, combined with industrial 5G connectivity and modular manufacturing concepts such as software-defined Module Type Package (MTP), can improve manufacturing processes.
MxD serves as a centre of innovation in manufacturing across a range of industries, including food and beverage, chemicals and batteries.
The collaboration combines SPX FLOW's expertise in fluid handling solutions such as mixers, pumps and valves with Siemens' expertise in IoT connectivity and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation.
The resulting digital twin technology will provide an accurate virtual model of an autonomous mixing tank, allowing users to design, test and optimise fluid systems before physical deployment.
The autonomous production system also includes an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) to facilitate the continuous mixing and transport of materials in the production environment.
Tyrone Jeffers, vice president of global manufacturing and supply chain for SPX FLOW, highlighted the impact of the collaboration, "By integrating simulation-based digital twins with AI-based modelling, we are providing faster and more adaptive solutions. Together with Siemens, we are driving manufacturing efficiency, flexibility and sustainability."
Del Costy, Managing Director, Americas, Siemens Digital Industries Software, highlighted the benefits, "By connecting the physical and digital worlds with our digital twin models, we help manufacturers reduce time to market, optimize performance and minimize resource utilization while providing customized solutions."
