Mainnovation Helped GlaxoSmithKline to Improve Their Maintenance Performance
GlaxoSmithKline approached Mainnovation asking to bring GSK's vaccines global maintenance performance to a higher maturity level. Mainnovation developed a conceptual model and approach based on the Value Driven Maintenance methodology. GSK's existing maintenance excellence program was improved by combining best practices from GSK and Mainnovation into a new program.
The new maintenance excellence program includes an audit tool which assesses a maintenance department’s maturity level on 10 different competencies. For each assessed competency the program includes background theory, methodologies, process maps, tools and action plans to improve these competencies. The new audit tool and maintenance excellence program now go hand in hand. A weakness within a maintenance department can now be easily identified and improved on a structured way using pre-made programs.
The program showed that maintenance could add great value to GSK’s bottom line results. A new Asset Care department was created for GSK Belgium to bring the maintenance excellence program in a structured way into practice. Mainnovation has supported the roll-out of the program into the new organization.
Paul Corin and Abdellah Azzin, both responsible for the maintenance excellence program within GSK, have won the Belgium Maintenance Manager of the Year 2015 award.
