IDCON visits Capitol Hill to Discuss the Importance of Skills Training in the American Workforce
Christer Idhammar Founder and CEO of management consultant firm IDCON INC headquartered in Raleigh NC visited with US Legislators on March 22-23rd in Washington D.C. with the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) to lobby for Work Force Development.
The group met with office representatives of six senator's offices.
- Much of the discussions focused on better US community colleges and cooperation with industry, changing the attitudes that you must have a college degree to be successful, increasing the status of technical colleges and making senators aware of the existing and future dramatic shortage of skilled crafts people in the reliability and maintenance professions, Idhammar stated.
SMRP promotes workforce development in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession and is an advocate for a renewed focus on training and skill development. This is the second year IDCON INC participated in this important mission.
- In our work with industry we are seeing the impact of an inadequately skilled workforce is having on reliability and maintenance, said Idhammar.
