Framework Agreement Valued at over € 100 Million: TOTAL Continues Counting on Services from Bilfinger
The engineering and services group Bilfinger will continue to be responsible for large parts of the maintenance of the TOTAL Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland in Leuna over the course of the next six years. The total volume of the now extended framework agreement is over €100 million, including budgeted inspection and project services. Bilfinger Maintenance has been responsible for maintenance of the refinery complex since it went into operation in 1997.
In Leuna, Bilfinger shares responsibility for the trouble-free operation of one of Europe’s most modern refineries. The package of services includes the maintenance of piping systems, machine and electrical technology, analysis and automation technology as well as further plant components.
The TOTAL refinery in Leuna produces 2.6 million tons of petrol and four million tons of diesel every year and thus covers the fuel needs of the vehicles in German federal states Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia. The refinery is also Germany’s largest producer of methanol, one of the most important substances in the chemicals industry. Heating fuel, liquefied gas, petroleum, aviation fuel and bitumen are also produced in Leuna.
Bilfinger is the largest German provider of maintenance services for industrial facilities. The Group plans an output volume of a good €3.4 billion in this business segment in financial year 2015. In the future, Bilfinger will focus this business on European clients in the chemical, energy, oil and gas, refineries and pharmaceuticals sectors.
