Bentley Systems Releases New Cost-Cutting Digital Solutions for the Offshore Industry
With the new normal low oil price, the offshore oil and gas industry is looking to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Bentley Systems has announced at the ONS show in Stavanger, several new solutions that use its connected data environment to bring together information and consolidate data for improved operational efficiency.
The announcements Bentley made include:
- the extended functionality of AssetWise CONNECT Edition, so users can consolidate chemical and corrosion data into one central source and make faster, more informed decisions regarding chemical usage, dosage rates, inventory, and more. These capabilities will help reduce chemical costs by at least 10 percent and improve availability of inventory across the operation.
- major advancements in workflow productivity and value with the release of SACS CONNECT Edition Version 12. Engineers no longer need to invest in a separate finite element analysis solution for their extreme event analysis consideration. Enhanced digital interoperability eliminates current disjointed workflows that afflict the industry, reducing data transfer risk, and improving design performance and organizations’ profitability.
Visitors to Bentley’s booth were able to how ContextCapture supports the decommissioning of offshore platforms. Experts demonstrated how Bentley’s common data environment enables a federated source of trusted, complete, consistent, accurate engineering information across capital projects and operations by pulling together information held in sophisticated desigsystems used in engineering, asset registers in enterprise systems, marked-up PDFs, drawings, and unstructured spreadsheets.
Bentley spokespeople also discussed Bentley’s latest acquisitions for 4D construction management (Synchro) and geotechnical (subsea) integrity analysis (Plaxis) both of which are used extensively in the offshore industry. In addition, there will be an update on the latest work Bentley is doing with Siemens to focus on digitalizing existing plants and their assets to ensure reliability and optimal performance.
Founded in 1974, ONS has developed into a global energy meeting place connecting international suppliers, operating companies and decision makers. ONS takes place every second year in Stavanger, Norway. This year's event was held 27 – 30 August 2018.
