Professional maintenance calls for lifelong learning
The EU has in its Lifelong Learning Programme set a target to make the EU the most competitive and dynamic learning economy. One of the targets is to make the know-how of maintenance one of Europe’s competitive edges. As a contribution for reaching this goal, the EU is financing several educational projects with a target to improve maintenance education within Europe.
One of the targets is also to improve the mobility of maintenance professionals within Europe by introducing certificates and “passports”, which would ensure a unified level of knowledge of the professionals across country borders. The new official standards that will specify the knowledge requirements for maintenance professional are also in process to be finalized and published.
During the EuroMaintenance 2014 event you will receive detailed information on the outcome of the European education development projects as well as on the new education requirements of maintenance professionals. The European Federation of National Maintenance Societies with members from 21 European countries, have been heavily involved on the EU development projects. These specialists will organize the Forum: “Competence and Competiveness with Education, Training and Certification”. This Forum will deal with the new requirements concerning maintenance professionals, companies, consultants and educational institutions.
In addition to the Forum event, a number of professionals will present the results of their researches during the Euromaintenance 2014 congress on the development and the challenges of upcoming maintenance education globally. Why not update your knowledge on the new requirements on maintenance education?
You can ensure your performance only by comparing it with the best practices
Benchmarking is the most certain method to ensure how well you manage the latest maintenance trends and how well your company maintenance performance compares with the best practices. How is maintenance developing in the world? Which are the most important development trends and challenges?
EuroMaintenance 2014 offers you a unique opportunity to benchmark your own company maintenance methods as well as your knowledge and efficiency with international best practices. The Forum on Assessment and Benchmarking of Maintenance Activities will focus in detail on these benchmarking topics.
A unique added value and international contribution to the EuroMaintenance 2014 event brings the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management. GFMAM is the global organization for Australia, Arabian Gulf Region, Brazil, South-Africa, USA and for the European Maintenance Societies (EFNMS). GFMAM is one of the official sponsor partners of the Euro- Maintenance 2014 event, as is also the “World Congress on Maintenance and Asset Management” organization, which organizes annual maintenance congresses outside Europe. These two global organizations, together with EFNMS bring to you a unique package of global knowledge on actual maintenance developments. Do not miss this unique benchmarking opportunity!
Networking is a must for enhanced performance of maintenance
Maintenance business is developing at a speed which no-one is able to manage alone. In order to develop a maintenance operation to peak performance, close networking is needed between companies, maintenance societies, universities, educational institutions and authorities. There have been a number of large projects started and financed by the EU to improve this kind of cooperation, More4Core being one of the most recent ones. The budget for this project is 2.5 million Euros.
At the EuroMaintenance 2014 event, the project management team of the More4Core project will explain the targets, implementation and financing of their project and also explain how you or your company can benefit and become involved in similar projects. There will be a special Forum event focusing indepth on the More4Core project setup. EuroMaintenance 2014 is the perfect place for networking!
KEYNOTE
CERN No Higgs & Co. without maintenance
Goran Perinić, German academic title is Dipl.-Ing. Job functions are senior engineer in quality and organizational processes section and co-leader of the maintenance management project. Company name: CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
Description of the content of the presentation: At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. They use the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter - the fundamental particles. The particles are made to collide together at close to the speed of light to give the physicists clues about how the particles interact, and to provide insights into the fundamental laws of nature. The instruments used at CERN are particle accelerators and detectors that require numerous technologies to play together like a Swiss watch mechanism to deliver the expected physics data to the scientists. Applying best practice maintenance methods is one of CERN’s strategies to ensure reliable operation today and for many years to come. After a presentation of CERN, CERN’s particle physics and a few examples of the technologies utilized, the way in which CERN is preparing for a harmonized maintenance management for the technical sector will be presented.
Short biography: Goran Perinić is a mechanical engineer with a diploma from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. In the first years of his career he acquired solid experience in designing, developing and operating process plants in the domain of cryogenic engineering at the JET joint undertaking fusion reactor in the UK, at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (now Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), as a contributor in standardization committees in Germany, France and Switzerland, as a lecturer for the German Engineers Association VDI and last but not least at CERN working for the Compact Muon Solenoid detector before becoming responsible for the operative maintenance of CERN’s cryogenic systems. The full implementation of a CMMS system for the cryogenics systems that Goran oversaw was one of the models for the technical sector’s transversal maintenance management project that he now co-leads.
