The World's Most Responsible Companies in 2024
TIME magazine and Statista have named the 500 companies doing the most for the planet. Schneider Electric scored the highest.
For the first time, TIME has partnered with Statista to name the world's most responsible companies in 2024 , with the aim of highlighting corporate responsibility and promoting sustainable practices.
Statista and Time Magazine teamed up to identify the World’s Most Sustainable Companies to promote corporate responsibility and advance sustainable practices. The Top 500 list, published today, sets a benchmark, fosters transparency and encourages businesses to integrate sustainability into their core strategies.
The ranking began with a comprehensive selection process from a pool of over 5,000 of the world's largest and most influential companies, assessed based on factors such as revenue, market capitalisation, and public prominence. These companies underwent a four-step process to identify the top 500. The assessment considered over 20 key data points, such as CDP score, alignment with GRI and SASB, emissions and energy intensity, and employee turnover and work safety. For each company, an overall sustainability score was calculated (max. 100). The top 500 companies have now been named as the World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024. The winning companies are spread over more than 30 countries. The USA has the largest number of companies on the list (111), followed by Japan (44) and the UK (35).
Schneider Electric, the French company at the top of the list, creates software and services for energy management.
"It has set ambitious targets to reduce its own emissions - carbon neutral by 2025 - and is also helping its customers to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency through its sustainability business."
