ICONICS Applies Energy-Smart Solutions to Manufacturing Combining Energy and Manufacturing Best Practices
ICONICS is a globally managed Microsoft Gold Partner and winner of the 2014 Microsoft Public Sector CityNext Partner of the Year award. It provides advanced, Web-enabled and OPC UA certified HMI/SCADA and Analytics software for any discrete manufacturing or industrial application. ICONICS announces the availability of energy-smart software solutions for industrial, manufacturing and building applications.
ICONICS is engaged with Microsoft Corp. on the Energy-Smart Buildings project, which is a key component of ICONICS’ CityNext applications strategy. Today, Microsoft has transformed its Puget Sound campus of over 125 buildings in Redmond, Washington into one of the smartest corporate campuses in the world. Using advanced analytics, Microsoft is reducing costs and optimizing efficiency across its campus. Its plan is to deploy this solution globally over the next year to other Microsoft campuses such as Hyderabad, India and Beijing, China.
ICONICS AnalytiX® software solutions help Microsoft manage its 125-building campus with 2 million IoT data points, creating over 500 million big data transactions every day. A new form of machine learning called Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) applies over 300 rules to help predict sources of energy inefficiency and equipment malfunctions. Fifty percent of detected faults can be corrected within 60 seconds by simple operator actions, while the remaining faults can be addressed by maintenance staff completing the generated work orders. The forecasted energy savings is between six to 10 percent per year with payback on implementation of the entire Smart Campus concept in less than 18 months.
“Manufacturers are under constant pressure to reduce overall costs, and energy is a key component in that equation,” said Russ Agrusa, president and CEO of ICONICS. “Leveraging our experience with Microsoft to reduce their overall campus energy costs, ICONICS has created energy solutions that can be applied within multiple manufacturing applications. For instance, automotive manufacturers can now measure the cost of energy on a per part basis, or on an entire automobile. ICONICS software solutions help manufacturers reduce costs and comply with environmental regulations.”
“ICONICS’ work on the Energy-Smart Buildings project offers industry leaders a shining example of what’s possible with modern connected technology,” said Caglayan Arkan, general manager, Worldwide Manufacturing and Resources Sector, Microsoft. “By utilizing ICONICS AnalytiX, manufacturing organizations can save immense sums in annual energy costs that more than pay for the cost of implementation.”
ICONICS sustainability software solutions, including Energy and Facility AnalytiX, save organizations between six to twenty percent in annual energy costs with an ROI of 12 to 18 months. Best of all, this is accomplished entirely on existing networks with existing equipment, with no need for costly retrofits. Energy AnalytiX improves energy usage patterns, monitoring energy reliability, and forecasting energy consumption through rich, browser-independent visualization on any device. Facility AnalytiX is a predictive equipment diagnostic solution that uses machine learning FDD technology to analyze information and predict faults in equipment.
