Condition-based Lubrication with LUBExpert
Bearings are lubricated to reduce friction in their rolling elements. SDT ultrasonic system measures the level of friction produced by a bearing and stores it in a database for trending, alarming, and scheduling.
As lubrication condition changes so do friction levels which are best measured in the ultrasonic range. When a baseline ultrasonic alarm is compromised, a lubricator is alerted to the problem and can correct it before the bearing is physically damaged.
LUBExpert works by both listening and digital measurement. The system tells the operator when to grease, how much grease to apply, and helps avoid over-greasing during re-greasing.
It is a fully digital system that uses true RMS technology to accurately measure and quantify the ultrasonic signal. The only way to maintain an accurate condition-based lubrication program is to measure and trend dBμB dBμV (decibel level measurement units). Listen-only is too subjective.
Any tool that reduces unplanned downtime, allows lubricators to get a better handle on their job, reduces the amount of grease used, is simple to operate, and returns the investment in a few short months would be a measurable impact tool. It would explain why 90 percent of our literature requests are initiated by the customer’s need to improve its lubrication best practices.
