New Synchronous Motor Generation from Rexroth: The MS2N Product Line is Tailored to the Demands of the Future in Functionality and Performance
Intelligent solutions with short cycle times and more flexibility in the Industry 4.0 environment: Rexroth meets these market requirements with the newly-designed MS2N synchronous servo motor product line. It covers the 4 Nm to 350 Nm maximum torque range with significantly increased power density and greater energy efficiency. In association with IndraDrive control devices, MS2N motors are becoming the source of data for tasks within the networked production plant. Rexroth opens up completely new application opportunities with this and sets new standards in servo drive technology.
Intelligence progresses all the way up to the motor in the new MS2N product line, as the individual readings of every single motor as well as the saturation and temperature data are deposited into motor data storage and automatically processed by IndraDrive control devices. This increases the torque precision significantly and reduces the tolerance range during operation to a fraction of the values that had been standard up to now. For the first time, the servo motor can be used as a reliable sensor as well as a data source. In this way, applications within the Industry 4.0 environment, like Condition Monitoring, can be realized cost-effectively and without additional components.
The motors are significantly more compact despite their higher performance. With a new motor construction and optimized electromagnetic design the new generation achieves an up to 30 percent higher torque density. This has two effects for machinery manufacturers: smaller motors can be employed for current drive tasks while more performance is available within the prescribed motor clearance. The up to five-time overload capacity with persistently low rotor inertia thereby guarantees the greatest acceleration and dynamics in all sizes. Thanks to high-grade materials, this new development also makes it possible to have continuous output within higher rpm ranges and along with the optimized winding technology, also reduce internal losses. In the process, the new generation of motors achieves a significantly improved energy efficiency and provides sustainable reduction in operating costs.
The consistently highly dynamic MS2N product line comes in six sizes, each with up to five lengths. It covers the 4 Nm to 350 Nm maximum torque performance range and the 0.8 Nm to 148 Nm permanent torque performance range. Alternate variations with higher rotor inertia for better mass-customization compliment this extensive range and allow for the precise alignment of task formulation and motor selection. There are three corresponding, differentiated encoder systems.
To supply power and the encoder signal, Rexroth provides an innovative single-cable connection as well as conventional two-cable solutions with highly flexible cord variations and a practical quick lock. Both options enable a complete cable length according to the IndraDrive standard, which means up to 75 meters (246 feet) with no additional components. In this way, both types of connections can be combined with one another at optimal cost. The equipment wiring is no longer subject to the limitations of previous one-cable systems.
