Marine Engineering Monitoring and Control of Alignment of Mechanical Elements
Located in Port Louis, capital of Mauritius, the Naval Shipyard of the Indian Ocean (CNOI), is a world leader in shipbuilding and ship repairs thanks to high-performance engineering. As part of its business, the inspection and alignment of mechanical elements is absolutely critical: engines, sternposts, lines of fire, rudder ports, etc...
Today, piano wire, comparators and gauges have been replaced by a laser system: a single sensor and a single laser for all measurement applications. With precise measurement modes, the new ROTALIGN Ultra iS technology by Pruftechnik covers all alignment requirements.
Take the case of a stern tube. The laser is mounted on the shaft; by inversion, the laser source is made to coincide with the axis of rotation of the gear. The receiver is successively mounted at each end of the stern tube using specific brackets.
The necessary corrections were then performed and monitored in real time with the ROTALIGN Ultra iS platform.
The ROTALIGN Ultra iS is an efficient and ergonomic device that allows quality alignments to be performed rapidly with total confidence, said team Benoit from CNOI.
Thanks to the ROTALIGN Ultra iS platform's new alignment methods combined with Pruftechnik mounting brackets, installation and measurements are performed in minutes.
